Root user access on Amazon AWS EC2 Ubuntu

Here’s how to enable the root user login on your Ubuntu based EC2 instance:

Enter the following commands,

First login by entering username as “ubuntu” {without quotes} with SSH key

sudo mkdir /root/.ssh

sudo cp /home/ubuntu/.ssh/authorized_keys /root/.ssh/

sudo /etc/init.d/ssh reload

Now you can login as “root” user with your SSH key
